Workshop Manager - Small & Medium Plant

Workshop Manager for a PLANT HIRE Company (focus on Small and Medium)

NOTE:

  1. You must have filled a workshop/technical management position previously.

  2. You must have a minimum of 3 years experience in one organisation in that management position.

  3. You must have at least 5-10 years working experience as a mechanic!

  4. You must have petrol (and ideally diesel) mechanic papers!

  5. A management certificate of some form would also be a massive benefit.

FINALLY NOTE: You should have a solid knowledge of small plant, i.e., rammers and generators and powertools. Compressors, skidsteers and roller vibrators. As well as oversee the maintenance and servicing of all the company’s LDVs!!!

Thus we are looking for an expert to ensure that our plant is of the highest standards when leaving the workshop!

The main purpose of the job is to:

  • Ensure the smooth running and operations of the workshop,

  • Managing all costs pertaining to the workshop, including liaising with suppliers and the company’s buyer on spares costs, availability as well as warranty claims,

  • Ensuring that equipment is up to OEM specifications,

  • Ensuring that equipment is reliable and available for the branches,

  • Ensure that balance is achieved between quality as well as productivity,

  • Continuous training and instilling best practice procedures,

  • Monitor spares usage as well as the condition and availability of workshop tools and special tools.

  • Ensure that a safe and happy work environment exists.

An ideal candidate would have:

  • Good HR and IR skills and knowledge,

  • Solid Excel skills,

  • Understand costs and know how to control them while still outputting quality of plant,

  • Have a passion with diesel or petrol in their blood,

  • Have a passion for staff development by assisting with technical information and transfer of knowledge both down and across the structure

  • Self-motivated,

  • An over-achiever!

Remuneration: Totally negotiable, as this is dependent on your knowledge, reputation and experience in the industry, but be assured that your package will be very attractive with a lucrative incentive plan payable associated!
